I'd describe Eisenstein's ideas in the chapter covering his deep love of Walt Disney's animation up to Bambi in "Hollywood Flatlands: Animation, Critical Theory, and the Avant-Garde" by Esther Leslie as Furry theory.

To summarize and paraphrase some of the passage's ideas, he sees the movement and elasticity of inanimate objects, plants, and animals in cartoons as a reawakening of our past (atavism) and that this somehow recalls the possibilities our bodily form could have taken. The desires that animation awakes in him brings him to speaking of Disney characters as though he wishes to transform into them and possess their spirit which we almost can do when watching a cartoon. That is paraphrasing because Eisenstein never says things simply and he had many other ideas rolling around in his writings, but there is a distinct thread of praise for Disney that is not too far removed from a common furry's connection with and outlook on cartoons. Furthermore, I was amused by some of his behavior that sounded familiar. He cherished his photo standing next to a mickey mouse cutout, he owned an illustrated Alice in Wonderland book and was absolutely in love with the drawings, he often spoke and wrote on his interest in Totemism and Animism when speaking of his or others drawings and finally probably the biggest connection to furriness was his drawings of humans that portrayed animal like behavior and the anthropomorphic animals which often lampooned society.

Its a tough call since his ideas are the first rumblings of a furry, but I'm sure that were he alive today he would either be associated with furriness or at the very least been loved by furs.
